Leadership: Eating the Elephant

By October 2, 2013 No Comments

As Eckhart Tolle says in his book The Power of Now, we only have the present moment…the past and the future don’t exist. What I have observed in great leaders is the ability to stay present and chose to do one thing at a time. This facilitates a calm, focused and creative environment in which to accomplish one’s objectives.

The alternative to focusing on one thing is to get distracted, thinking of several things at once…this produces fear and anxiety. Not a good vibe, and not what you wish to share with your staff.

So while you have a large to-do list, concentrating on handling one thing at a time will help you stay present, focused and productive. As has been said, “How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time.”
