New and Improved: Peer Interviews

By August 21, 2013 No Comments

Job interviews are generally thought of as a very set-in-stone process, with clearly defined checkboxes that need to be hit. But what about the concept of a peer interview? As in, where coworkers (yes, plural!) interview a candidate? Sound crazy? Think again. It may be more beneficial than you think. Kazim Ladimeji lists several benefits of peer job interviews, which can hopefully make the whole process not only smoother, but better in general.

Being around a larger number of potential coworkers may actually help with a candidate’s nerves. Since they are surrounded with people who likely share their interests and goals, answers may be less guarded and stilted. It also gives them a feel for a company’s culture by showing the candidate how the current employees work together.

So the next time you have a job interview to conduct, consider trying out a peer interview. The results could be fantastic.
