Conselium Completes Search on Behalf of Alcon

Conselium, an executive search firm, has completed a search on behalf of Alcon Labs a division of Novartis.  Mr. Carlo Calamia began his role of Director Global Compliance Training on 4-7-14 in their office in Fort Worth, Texas.

Mr. Calamia’s Responsibilities include:

  • Develop and manage a comprehensive Compliance training strategy across U.S., Regional and Country-level Compliance Officers and appropriate business stakeholders to identify targeted training populations
  • Manage the development of training content (e.g., eTraining, Face-to-Face, etc.) in line with strategies and policies
  • Design and implement Compliance course development, approval, deployment and assessment; utilizing up-to-date technologies to facilitate training delivery and feedback
  • Assure reliable tracking of training completion to facilitate monitoring and reporting of completion rates
  • Maintain on-going engagement with the Global Compliance Policy Director early to receive technical input to training content and advise on appropriate timing and channels for training based on policy or procedural content
  • Maintain on-going engagement with the Global Director U.S. Monitoring & Global Monitoring to advise and consult on emerging risk areas
  • Establish and maintain clear coordination with U.S., Regional and Country Compliance officers to rollout Compliance training in the regions/countries 

Mr. Calamia previously held Compliance Officer positions with Merck and Pfizer.

Although it’s based in neutral Switzerland, Novartis has been aggressive in attacking illnesses on multiple fronts, including pharmaceuticals, vaccines, and consumer health. Its largest division, Pharmaceuticals, develops and manufactures prescription drugs for blood pressure, cancer, and other ailments. Novartis’ Sandoz subsidiary produces generic drugs and active pharmaceutical ingredients, while the Vaccine and Diagnostics segment makes immune health and blood-screening tools. Its Alcon division makes ophthalmic drugs, surgery systems, and contact lenses. The Consumer Health unit includes OTC medications such as Excedrin and Theraflu, as well as agricultural animal and pet care products.
