Conselium Completes Search on Behalf of Orthofix International

Conselium Executive Search has completed a search on behalf of Orthofix International.  Mr. Michael Spencer began his role of Chief Compliance Officer on 8-12-13 in their office in Lewisville, Texas.

Mr. Spencer’s responsibilities include:

  • Monitoring changes in legal/regulatory requirements including federal and state health care fraud and abuse laws and regulations pertaining to federal health care program reimbursement.
  • Reporting on a regular basis to the Board of Directors on compliance issues and the status of  the compliance program.
  • Continuing to develop written policies and procedures to implement and address existing and new compliance risk areas; developing, implementing and managing policies and programs.
  • Conducting period risk assessments and centering the compliance program around such risks.
  • Developing and implementing educational and training programs that focus on the elements of the global compliance program.
  • Coordinating any internal and external compliance reviews of business operations and practices.
  • Investigating and acting on suspected violations of applicable law and regulations and taking appropriate corrective action where appropriate.
  • Developing an annual compliance work plan and annual budget of the compliance program.
  • Ensuring independent contractors and agents who provide services (e.g., billing companies, distributors) are aware of the company’s compliance program.

Mr. Spencer was previously Compliance Officer for Smith & Nephew, Inc.
