Prepare Yourself: The Mobile Revolution is Upon Us

How much work have you put into making sure your business is on the first page of Google’s search results? Well, you may need to do some more. Google has announced changes to its algorithms that determine result placement, and pages without mobile optimization are going to suffer it seems. This could negatively affect your HR and recruitment sectors, so it’s more important than ever to get with the smartphone’s mobile browser trend. Joe Essenfeld wrote on just how important it really is.

Many of today’s job seekers, especially the younger generations, are using their smartphones to conduct most of their internet business, including job searching. And the majority of businesses aren’t as optimized for mobile as they should be. Only 6% of the Fortune 100 companies were deemed acceptable by Google’s new standards, according to a study by Pure Oxygen Labs.

But it’s not just your site that needs to be optimized for a mobile browser. The application process also needs to be able to be done from anywhere, not just a desktop. In fact, your site should never have to send an applicant back to their desktop. You risk losing them otherwise. Will this take some work? You bet. But it’s more necessary than ever.
