Fix Your Recruiting Process

Recruiting is such an old process; it’s no wonder that some of its facets seem a bit archaic. In the ever-evolving world of employment, where technology is becoming more common and jobs are becoming more universal, it seems odd that the recruiting process has not completely adapted. Dr John Sullivan wrote on how the “sacred cows” of recruiting, the aspects of recruiting that need to stop but have not, should be changed.

Most of what makes these “sacred cows” so useless is that they can’t be reasonably defended. Do you require a photo on applications and resumes? If so, why? Think about what you’re really gaining from your recruiting process. If it actually facilitating the process? Or is it just adding more stress to you and your candidates? Prune the useless bits and fix what needs mending, and you will find your recruiting process to be much less arduous.
