Chief Compliance Officer, Healthcare and Pharmacy, Andover, MA

We are representing a national healthcare and pharmacy business in their search for a Chief Compliance Officer

Expectations first 12 months:

  • Identify key areas of compliance program improvement, initiate strategy and implementation of a streamlined and uniform enterprise wide program
  • Spearhead the maintenance, development and oversight of an effective operational compliance program
  • Successful completion of a 1-year regulatory audit

Responsibilities:

  • Reporting to the CEO with access to Board of Directors; Implement an effective compliance program, promoting the highest standards for providing pharmacy care while providing expertise, consultation and assessments in matters related to compliance, audit and risk
  • Communicate pertinent compliance-related information to all areas of the Company in a timely manner
  • Serve as an advisor to the Board of Directors with respect to compliance-related matters
  • Member of the Senior Management team charged with developing and executing a rigid compliance program and holding the Company accountable to the highest standard of practice
  • Review notices from external authorities indicating the intent to audit or investigate any of the Company’s business affairs or practices
  • Establish mechanisms and promote an environment where employees can report compliance related issues via any communication channel available within the Company
  • Review and oversee the prompt resolution of any alleged violations of the law, rules or regulations, the Code of Conduct or other established Company policies and procedures
  • Supervise and maintain the integrity of the Compliance Hotline such that reports are appropriately logged, investigated, tracked and resolved in a timely manner
  • Develop and maintain documents related to the on-going operation of the Compliance Program including, but not limited to, the Compliance Plan, the Code of Conduct, policies and procedures and educational materials
  • Coordinate the development and implementation of an effective compliance training program that includes, but is not limited to, training of all new Associates, addressing specialized training needs and providing periodic training
  • Facilitate the performance of compliance risk-based assessments and oversee the development and implementation of the Company’s proactive compliance monitoring and auditing program
  • Monitor the Company’s procedures related to routine searches of excluded persons maintained by the Department of Health and Human Services’ Office of Inspector General and the General Services Administration
  • Periodically assess employees’ knowledge of the Code of Conduct and the operations of the Compliance Program and, where appropriate, recommend revisions to the Compliance Program, Compliance Plan and Code of Conduct
  • Report directly to the Board of Directors on the status of all significant compliance issues and the effectiveness of the Compliance Program
  • Serve as the Chairperson of the Company’s Compliance Committee

Requirements:

  • Essential Education: Bachelor’s degree; Strongly Desirable Education: JD
  • Compliance Experience: You must bring significant healthcare compliance and leadership experience, in addition to a strong working knowledge of pharmacy regulations and exposure to multi-state pharmacy compliance
